Tourist Attraction

Little Venice

Little Venice (also known as Piccola Venezia or Mikri Venetia) is the most romantic and photographed neighborhood in Chora, the center of Mykonos. This charming area is famous for its 18th-century houses with colorful balconies built directly on the water’s edge, reminiscent of the architecture of the city of Venice.

Key Features

  • Sunset: This is the neighborhood’s main event. Facing west, Little Venice offers spectacular views of the sun setting into the Aegean Sea.
  • The Windmills (Kato Mili): Located on the hill immediately above the neighborhood, they are the undisputed symbol of the island and offer a picture-perfect panorama.
  • Church of Panagia Paraportiani: Just a few minutes’ walk away, this extraordinary asymmetrical structure, painted entirely in white, is a masterpiece of Cycladic architecture.
  • Shopping in the Alleyways: The internal streets form a dense labyrinth (originally designed to confuse pirates) now filled with luxury boutiques, souvenir shops, and art galleries.
